Submitted by RareHope on Tue, 07/10/2007 - 00:45. cost quality access Read more »From our very first experience with the County funded Mental Hospital, it was clear that uninsured mentally ill patients receive poorer quality care than those with insurance, or better yet, those who may have private funding.
Since our son is an adult, he is ineligible to be included on our medical insurance, he was unable to work so he had no insurance from a job, and we are a family with two working parents, and still just making ends meet. Paying for his care would have bankrupted us in about a week.
Low rates and low copays- apparently it has to be one or the other...

Paid the doctor, can't afford the treatment

In the 1940's we made the fateful decision to have business pay for health care through insurance companies. That decision has led to a business model of money-driven medicine, that looks to the bottom line for success, rather than to the health of American citizens. As a for-profit business, health care costs have risen to a level where even businesses can no longer pay for them.
